( you pay for the alcohol) or an open bar ( guest pay for the drinks) Or some couples like to serve just wine and champagne. Again it all depends on you budget. You can also do a host bar up to a certain dollar amount and then transitions to a cash bar as well. It is a surprise to hear that most couples haven't discussed the cost of alcohol before booking with their venue prior to signing a contract. Then some time later when you want to add Alcohol you now have sticker shock over the pricing. Discussing this a couple prior to your contract signing at the venue will be a big help really narrowing down what you'll do for Alcohol. If you plan on providing drinks for your event it is important to discuss this sooner rather then later.
